About ABAC

The APEC Business Advisory Council is unique in being an official component of APEC. It consists of up to three businesspersons from each APEC member economy who are appointed to serve on the Council by the Leaders of their respective economies. It meets with the Leaders each year at the APEC Summit to evaluate APEC's performance. Additionally, ABAC meets quarterly to assess the regional business climate and develop specific input to APEC officials at the ministerial and working group levels on how "doing business" can be made easier. ABAC's secretariat is in Manila, its website is: www.abaconline.org. Under the leadership of President Bush, the U.S. government has appointed Spencer H. Kim, Chairman, CBOL Corporation,  Michael Phillips, Chairman, Russell Investment Group, and D. Nick Reilly, Group Vice President, General Motors, President, GM Asia Pacific to represent American business on the ABAC.
