He will outline U.S. strategy for continued economic engagement in the Asia-Pacific region, including our priorities as the host nation of the APEC world leader's summit in November.

The National Center for APEC, in its role as Secretariat for the ABAC USA Delegation, was on hand for the first ABAC meeting of 2011, which was held in Guangzhou, China from February 14-17, 2011.

This was the first meeting under the Chairmanship of ABAC USA Member Deb Henretta, of Procter & Gamble. ABAC USA Member Rich Lavin, of Caterpillar, and Alternate Member Kevin Thieneman, of Caterpillar also participated in the meeting. Alex Parle, Lynn Turk, Rob Fiddick, and John Johnson attended on behalf of the National Center and the APEC 2011 USA Host Committee.

The United States will be hosting a Ministerial Conference on Transportation and Energy in San Francisco on Tuesday, September 13. The event will be jointly chaired by US Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, and US Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu. Ministers and other high level officials with energy and transportation portfolios are warmly welcome to participate.

The Ministerial Conference will be organized as a public-private dialogue to actively engage the views of business leaders, municipal planning authorities, and energy and transportation experts from throughout the Asia Pacific region. Several main themes are envisaged:
