The National Center for APEC is a member-driven business organization focused exclusively on facilitating American private sector input to the APEC process.
The National Center for APEC is the official link between U.S. business and APEC, providing direct input into the APEC process.
Last year the United States hosted APEC. The National Center for APEC served as the secretariat to the APEC 2011 USA Host Committee, which coordinated private sector engagement in the APEC process.

ABAC will convene for the second meeting of the year in Seoul, Korea this April. ABAC's key deliverables for ABAC II will include reporting on progress against key outcomes from the first meeting, finalizing a letter to trade ministers, finalizing a letter to SME ministers, and assessing its advocacy strategies with APEC.

This event will feature a discussion of the major topics in SME policy among senior APEC officials responsible for SMEs. The focus will be on enhancing the environment in the region for small businesses to grow and create jobs. This meeting will be chaired by the U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez.

The APEC Road Show Events are designed to make local businesses aware of the importance of the APEC region and APEC 2011 to the U.S. economy and the opportunities the APEC market offers to U.S. exporters. They are a public-private partnership of the U.S. Government and the APEC 2011 USA Host Committee. United States Trade Representative Ambassador Ron Kirk will keynote the Chicago event. He will outline U.S. strategy for continued economic engagement in the Asia-Pacific region, including our priorities as the host nation of the APEC world leader's summit in November.

The National Center for APEC, in its role as Secretariat for the ABAC USA Delegation, was on hand for the first ABAC meeting of 2011, which was held in Guangzhou, China from February 14-17, 2011.
This was the first meeting under the Chairmanship of ABAC USA Member Deb Henretta, of Procter & Gamble. ABAC USA Member Rich Lavin, of Caterpillar, and Alternate Member Kevin Thieneman, of Caterpillar also participated in the meeting. Alex Parle, Lynn Turk, Rob Fiddick, and John Johnson attended on behalf of the National Center and the APEC 2011 USA Host Committee.
